Global English language qualification arrives in Brazil

Trinity College London is today launching its Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL) qualification for the first time in Brazil.

This is a practical training qualification to equip people with the basic skills and knowledge to inform and develop their teaching skills. Trinity College London’s TESOL qualifications are some of the most widely respected qualifications for teachers globally.

Cultura Inglesa Rio de Janeiro will run the CertTESOL in Rio de Janeiro, Brasília and Goiânia. Cultura Inglesa Recife and Natal will also run the CertTESOL. Meanwhile, the British Council will be running their first course in São Paulo in February.

All successful candidates will receive a Trinity College London certificate, which is recognised by employers of English language teachers around the world, including the British Council.

Julian Kenny, Head of Teacher Development at Trinity, said: ‘The demand for well-qualified teachers of the English language has never been greater, and the Trinity CertTESOL is designed to give teachers the skills they need to succeed wherever they choose to practice’.

Trinity CertTESOL

The Trinity Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL) is a TESOL or TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate designed for those who are new to English language teaching or for those who want to develop their skills and gain an internationally recognised qualification.

It equips candidates with the basic skills and knowledge needed to take up a first post as an ESOL teacher. It gives an introduction to the theory and practice of English teaching and an insight into the challenges facing the learner and the role of the teacher.

The CertTESOL is accepted by the British Council as an initial TESOL or TEFL qualification for teachers in its accredited teaching organisations in the UK and in its own teaching operations overseas. Credits are also awarded towards degree programmes offered by universities in the UK.

Trinity has a suite of qualifications for English language teachers at all stages of their careers.
